[ARCHIVED] APS Announces Name for New P-8 School

harmony ridge raptors

Harmony Ridge will serve grades PK-8.  Harmony Ridge is a STEM-focused school.  We believe in problem-based learning through a design thinking process.  All scholars, no matter age, grade or academic standing will be exposed to STEM and design thinking on a regular basis.  Our goal is to not only engage our scholars in science and the world around them but to also build our scholar’s personal, entrepreneurial, civic and professional skills (see Colorado Essential Skills).  These are the skills that have been deemed necessary for our students to be successful in jobs that are not yet created, as we know the world keeps changing exponentially. When our students become information literate and can collaborate, communicate and innovate, they will be ready for anything!

We also believe that when scholars feel safe, they learn at unprecedented rates.  We will work with our community to build a school where all scholars feel safe- physically, emotionally and academically.  We will be a community of learners, one in which taking calculated risks is a good thing and one in which we understand that we learn from our mistakes.  We will build a community in which scholars have ownership, expect great things from one another and hold each other responsible.

At Harmony Ridge, we will support our families as well as we possibly can. Our student hours will be 7:45-2:45. We will be providing before and after school care at a discount for some of our families, as well as athletic opportunities and clubs for multiple grades.

Harmony Ridge opens Tuesday, August 11th for grades one through eight. Kindergarten and preschool students begin school on Monday, August 18th. We can’t wait to meet you all and create the Harmony Ridge Way!

We are currently registering students at Harmony Ridge P-8.  Please don’t hesitate to contact Melanie Lawhorn - or 303-326-2000 ext. 26301 to become a member of our inaugural class.
